The capture of the Nazi submarine U-505, off the coast of Africa in 1944, is used in the documentary Dayton Codebreakers to illustrate the effective use of intelligence produced by the US Navy bombes. These dramatic photos of the boarding of the U-505 were taken by the crew of the USS Guadalcanal.
