Louis Kruse SandorThe State - South Carolina -- January 06, 2007IRMO -- Service for Louis Kruse Sandor, 92, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Ohio. Mr. Sandor died Thursday, January 4, 2007. He was born in Piqua, Ohio, January 6, 1914. While working at NCR, Mr. Sandor became a member of an elite team of engineers who developed machinery to decode German and Japanese messages. As a result of this top secret mission, he received a certificate of commendation 'for outstanding service to the United States Navy during World War II.' This work was documented in a film aired by Public Television and in a book called Secret in Building 26. Surviving are children: Patricia Gnodle of Kingman, AZ, Phyllis Smith of Dayton, OH, Katherine Rouse of Irmo, SC, Mary Lynn Battle Creek, MI, Bob Sandor of Fallbrook, CA, and Christine Sandor of Chesterville, OH. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie, and his second wife, Futaba. Memorials to Ascension Hospice, Irmo. |
