Donald HenryPublished in the Dayton Daily News on 2/24/2007HENRY, Donald Kenworthy Age 90, of Brookville, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Harborside Health Care Center in New Lebanon, Ohio after an extended illness. Don was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 10, 1916. A graduate of Dixie High School, he attended Northwestern University graduating from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Don worked as an electrical engineer with NCR. During WWII he was instrumental in the highly secret development and manufacture of the BOMBE, a computing machine which the US Navy used to break the German enigma code. Retiring from NCR after 32 years, he was founder and president of Dayton and Suburban Realty, again retiring in 1985. A long time member of Bear Creek Church of the Brethren, Don served in different capacities including treasurer and head usher. He also enjoyed photography, farming, gardening and bowling. Don is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Arlie (Kenworthy) Henry; stepmother Fannie Henry and step-sister Helen Allen. Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wanda (Flory), son Bill (Angie); daughters Patricia Koch (Larry), Linda Truxell (Bob); stepchildren Sally Berkuchel (Sosale), Brian Garber (Kathy) and Larry Garber; five grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, at the Bear Creek Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ron Wenzel presiding with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may wish to call at the ROGERS' FUNERAL HOME, NEW LEBANON on Saturday (TONIGHT) from 4-6 PM. Contributions may be made to Bear Creek Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund in memory of Donald. |
